12-Year-Old Boy Meets Another Boy in Heaven, Returns with a Message for His Parents
While we were in the hospital and Aldo was in a coma, I had a message that somebody had phoned me.
Retah McPherson’s son, Aldo, suffered a severe brain injury due to a car accident when he was 12 years old. During his coma, he had a supernatural experience in which he went to Heaven, saw God, angels, Moses, and Abraham. Aldo came back with one message: Jesus is alive!
It was the day before they were going to turn off the machines. And this guy says to me, “Retah, I just want to encourage you. Our son had the same experience. He drowned in the sand and was also in a coma.” I asked him this question. I said, “How is he today?” And then he said, “He died.” I was in so much shock, I put the phone down. Well those people went and found our address, went to search for us, and they left a card.
So in the time that my son had this heavenly experience, he met this child. So then after three months we went back home. He had come out of the coma but was still lying flat, couldn’t speak, couldn’t talk, nothing, but he could write. One morning he was showing me that he wanted to write, and I gave him his pen and everything and he said, “I met this boy in Heaven and his name was Dwano. You need to find his parents and tell them he’s so happy in Heaven. He doesn’t want to come back. Tell his father and his mother that they need to give their lives to the Lord. That’s what he requested.” And then he went on and he said, “They need to sell their airplane.”
Now, I thought, okay, now we lose it. Now we lose it. How many people do you know who have an airplane? And he said, “You must tell them today that he’s very happy and he doesn’t want to come back.” And he said, “You have the details.” He explained about that card, and I put one and one together. In those years, it was still fax machines. I thought to myself, Lord God, You need to have grace on me. What if I send this letter to people whose son died and this is not right? And Aldo wrote, “Mom, trust God. God wants to use his parents for His Kingdom.” I was like, God, this is a step of faith. Sure enough, these people phoned and the mother said, “I couldn’t wait any longer to hear from my son and I was ready to do anything and here I received this letter out of Heaven.”
By the way, the guy had an airplane. He was a businessman. About 15 years later, I don’t know if you ever heard about Angus Buchan here in South Africa. He had a campaign and everybody came together on the field and this guy stood there and gave his testimony with this letter 15 years later. He was on his way to a mission trip. They sold everything and there they were ministering around the world. So for me, God was teaching me steps of faith. When God prompts you to do something for Him, write the letter. This is who I saw in Heaven. Tell his parents he’s so happy. And this is something that we need to know. Heaven is a place where we are in God’s presence all the time. Who would want to come back? But that place is also there for you and me right now as we can bring the Kingdom down to earth.
We know those people till this day, and we actually became friends.
Reflections on Retah and Aldo McPherson’s Experience
This part of Aldo and Retah’s story is an absolute favorite of ours. Of all the people we’ve talked to over the past few years, this is the only story we’ve come across in which a near death experiencer came back from Heaven with a very specific message from somebody who had already gone on to Heaven. What’s even crazier is that Dwano’s parents had connected with Retah while Aldo was still in a coma in the hospital.
Retah’s heart must have been beating so fast when she faxed the letter to Dwano’s parents. And then to hear the response that Dwano’s mom had been praying for confirmation of what had happened to her son. And then fast-forward 15 years, they sold everything including the airplane and became missionaries. This is such an amazing story of a visit to Heaven making a dramatic ministry impact here on earth.
